MONING FOUNDATION

MONING FOUNDATION

Preserving art.
Sharing knowledge.
Enabling the future.

The foundation is dedicated to the life’s work of the Swiss artist Hans Jörg Moning – with the aim of preserving and activating an extraordinary body of work.

The foundation was born from a deep desire not only to preserve an extraordinary artistic oeuvre, but to make its full depth visible and impactful – for the present and for future generations.

In the house of Hans Jörg Moning, more than 1,000 works from his life’s work are still preserved today: paintings, studies, and works created over decades. This abundance of work reflects a consistent, exploratory engagement with painting.

The foundation sees it as its responsibility to preserve, document, curate, and gradually make this extensive oeuvre accessible to the public.

Support

New artistic positions
need space.

Art grows through experience, dedication, and exchange. The life’s work of Hans Jörg Moning is understood by the foundation as a living source – and as a foundation for new developments.

A central concern of the foundation is the targeted support of young artists at the transition from education to a professional career. This step is often decisive and at the same time accompanied by great uncertainty.

In this sensitive phase, the foundation provides not only financial and professional support, but also concrete opportunities for visibility and professional development.

Supported artists are given the opportunity to exhibit their work in the foundation’s own spaces. In addition, the foundation offers targeted support in press and public relations.

Knowledge

Oil painting as
craft & attitude.

Hans Jörg Moning possesses exceptionally deep expertise – this is shared: through exchange, mentorship, and practice.

This knowledge has grown over decades and is passed on through the foundation’s work – in personal exchange, professional mentorship, and as an artistic attitude that strengthens and encourages young talents.

An important pillar of emerging artist support is collaboration with art universities. This cooperation connects academic education with independent artistic practice and creates a fruitful dialogue between generations, disciplines, and worlds of experience.

Support

Making art possible.
Creating lasting impact.

The foundation depends on patrons, sponsors, supporters, and benefactors who take responsibility for the cultural future.

All these tasks – preserving an extensive life’s work of over 1,000 pieces, passing on artistic knowledge, professionally supporting young talents including exhibition opportunities and press work – are only possible thanks to people who not only appreciate art, but actively make it possible.

Supporting the Hans Jörg Moning Foundation means creating a lasting impact: it strengthens young artists, preserves artistic knowledge, and creates real spaces for art and encounter.

Those who support the foundation invest not only in projects, but in people, in exchange, and in the living continuation of art.
